Day
1 –
Canada to Reykjavik
Day 2 Reykjavik City Tour and free afternoon.We
start our journey of Iceland in the great lava fields
of the Reykjanes Peninsula heading for city tour of Reykjavik
stopping at highlights such as Perlan observation deck,
Hallgrímskirkja church and Harpa concert hall.
The rest of the day is free for resting or exploring
Day 3 – Reykjavik to Laugarbakki
We make our way from Reykjavik to the town of Borgarnes,
travel through the Borgarfjörður area to the
amazing Hraunfossar waterfalls in the lava and the great
hot spring of Deildartunguhver. Travel across the highland
Holtavörðuheiði heading north to our accommodation
at Hotel Laugarbakki.
Day 4 – Laugarbakki to Akureyri
Today we travel through the farmland of Húnavatnssýsla
to the Skagafjörður Heritage Museum located at
a Traditional Turf Farm named Glaumbær. We then
travel through the mountains of Öxnadalsheiði
to Eyjafjörður and go whale watching at Akureyri,
the capital of the north, where we also stay for the night.
Day 5 – Akureyri to Lake Myvatn
This morning we make our way along Eyjafjörður
and then inland to the great Goðafoss (waterfall of
the gods). We then head back to the coast, stopping in
the old fishing village of Húsavík. Then
we travel out to the Tjörnes peninsula just a few
miles south of the arctic circle and to the horse-shoe
shaped geological formation at Ásbyrgi, said to
be where Odin´s eight-legged horse Sleipnir once
touched down. We then head to Mývatn where we will
spend the night.
Day 6 – Lake Myvatn to Egilsstadir
Today we enjoy the volcanic Mývatn area, visiting
the lava field Dimmuborgir and the Námaskarð
hot springs. Then we make our way to the magnificent and
powerful waterfall Dettifoss and the breathtaking wastelands
of Fjöllin where we overnight in Egilsstaðir
close to Lögurinn river said to be the home of the
great Wyrm.
Day 7 – Egilsstadir to Höfn
Today we travel through the Eastfjords of Iceland with
their rugged coastline and wild mountains passing through
Reyðarfjörður, Stöðvarfjörður,
Berufjörður and Djúpivogur with a few
scenic photo stops along the way and a visit to the fascinating
Petra´s mineral collection. We overnight in the
vicinity of the Europe´s biggest glacier Vatnajökull.
Day 8 – Höfn to Vik
Today we travel alongside Vatnajökull which covers
roughly 8% of the surface of Iceland, with its long glacier
tongues flowing towards the lowlands and glacial rivers
making their way to the ocean. We take a cruise on the
breathtaking glacier lagoon among the icebergs and drive
across the black sand deserts left in the wake of volcanic
glacier flooding. Ttravel through otherworldly eldhraun
lava flow towards the great basalt columns. Reynisdrangar.
Tonight is in Vik.
Day 9 – Vik to Reykjavik
We start today by visiting the waterfalls Seljalandsfoss
and Skogarfoss, located in the foothills of Eyjafjallajökull
volcano. Later, we head to the Golden Circle with lunch
at the organic tomato greenhouse farm Friðheimar.
On the way to Reykjavik, we visit the Great Geysir hot
spring area, the massive waterfall Gullfoss and the National
Park and Rift Valley of Þingvellir.
Day 10 – Reykajavik
We start our journey of Iceland in the great lava fields
of the Reykjanes Peninsula heading for city tour of Reykjavik
stopping at highlights such as Perlan observation deck,
Hallgrímskirkja church and Harpa concert hall.
The rest of the day is free for resting or exploring.
Day 11 – Reykajavik Blue Lagoon and free
afternoon
This morning the group visits one of the world’s
twenty-five wonders, The Blue Lagoon. The afternoon is
free to explore the city center or get ready for the farewell
dinner this evening.
Day 12 – Transfer from Hotel to Keflavik
