1 – August 24, 2014 - Arrive Halifax
Meet your Atlantic Tours’ Tour Director and Driver
and transfer to downtown Halifax where your accommodations
for the next two nights are in the heart of the city.
Day 2 – August 25, 2014 - Halifax Touring
Discover the rustic charm of the renowned fishing village
of Peggy’s Cove where you will enjoy breakfast before
travelling to the lush Annapolis Valley to learn about
the French Acadians who established their first settlement
in the early 1600’s. Visit Grand Pre World UNESCO
Site where fact and fiction blend to reveal the romance
of the Land of Evangeline. Return to the city to learn
of the people and places that have shaped one of North
America’s most fascinating cities including a visit
to Citadel National Historic Site. (B)
Day 3 – August 26, 2014 - Halifax to Moncton
This morning, depart for New Brunswick where you will
visit the Hopewell Rocks on the Bay of Fundy to marvel
at these massive flower-pot shaped formations sculpted
by the highest tides on the planet. En route, learn about
Canada’s Songbird at a visit to the Anne Murray
Centre in Springhill. (B)
Day 4 – August 27, 2014 -
Moncton to Charlottetown
Begin the day with a visit to the Olivier Soapery in Sainte-Anne-de-Kent
for a lively and entertaining demonstration featuring
the history, experience and art of soap making and the
products that were featured on CBC Television’s
Dragons’ Den. Next, an unforgettable culinary experience
awaits as you cruise the warm waters of Shediac Bay aboard
a lobster boat; learn about the fishing industry and savour
a delicious lobster lunch. A unique photo opportunity
will be made in Shediac with the world’s largest
lobster before crossing Confederation Bridge – the
world’s longest continuous multi-span bridge –
to Prince Edward Island. Your home for the next two night’s
is Charlottetown, the birthplace of Canada. (B,L)
Day 5 – August 28, 2014 - Prince Edward
Island Touring
Enjoy a free morning in Charlottetown before heading out
for an afternoon of local touring. Drive by red cliffs,
white beaches, gently sloping sand dunes and green fields
as you make your way to Prince Edward Island National
Park and Green Gables Heritage Site, the alluring inspiration
of Lucy Maud Montgomery’s classic Anne of Green
Gables books. Before returning to Charlottetown, visit
the Prince Edward Island Preserve Company. (B)
Day 6 – August 29, 2014 - Charlottetown
to Baddeck
Ferry over the Northumberland Strait back to Nova Scotia
and proceed to Cape Breton Island - the Scotland of North
America – via the Canso Causeway. Visit the Alexander
Graham Bell National Historic Site in Baddeck to learn
of the many accomplishments of this genius who made his
home on the island. Arrive at your accommodations on the
Bras d’Or Lake for two nights. (B)
Day 7 – August 30, 2014 - Cabot Trail Touring
You are off to experience one of the most stunningly picturesque
drives in North America. The Cabot Trail winds around
the rocky splendor of Cape Breton’s northern shore,
ascending to the incredible plateaus of Cape Breton Highlands
National Park. Unforgettable vistas of Cape Breton’s
rugged coastline await, so be sure to have your camera

Day 8 – August 31, 2014 - Baddeck to Corner
Brook
Travel to North Sydney and board a Marine Atlantic ferry
for a relaxing crossing to Port aux Basques, your port
of entry on the island of Newfoundland. Continue on to
Corner Brook where you will overnight. (B)
Day 9 – September 1, 2014 - Corner Brook
to Cow Head
This morning, visit the Railway Society Museum Historic
Train Site to learn about the railroads of Newfoundland
and “Newfie Bullet”. Artifacts include telegraph
instruments, train order sophomore signal board, train
orders, phones and historic photos. Continue on the Gros
Morne National Park for a scenic boat tour; learn the
geology of the Tablelands, see the bald eagles that frequent
the deep waters of the fjord, and hear the history of
the small villages nestled on the shores. It is an unforgettable
experience; some say the scenery is unequaled in eastern
Canada. Become an honorary Newfoundlander at a Screech
In Ceremony on the boat. (B)
Day 10 – September 2, 2014 - Cow Head to
Gander
Continue on to Gander with a stop in lovely Twilingate
to visit the local museum to learn about the historic
town’s people and culture and the Long Point Lighthouse,
one of the most photographed landmarks on the Northeast
Coast of Newfoundland. Be on the lookout for whales and
icebergs as you take in the panoramic view of the Atlantic
Ocean. Please note that today is primarily a travel day
and you will not likely arrive at your Gander accommodations
until 7:00pm. (B)
Day 11 – September 3, 2014 - Gander to Clarenville
Visit the Silent Witness Memorial in Peackeeper’s
Park, a monument dedicated to the memory of the 256 individuals
who lost their lives on December 12, 1985 in the Arrow
Air Crash. Continue on to Clarenville with a stop en route
to Terra Nova National Park, the most easterly of Canada's
beautiful national parks. Keep your camera close at hand
for wildlife along the way.(B)
Day
12 – September 4, 2014 - Clarenville to St. John’s
Your destination today is the capital city of St. John’s
and en route you will visit the Bay Roberts Cable Relay
Station. Built by Western Union in 1913 to house transmitting
equipment for new and original cable lines running between
the United Kingdom and the United States of America, the
site has been restored to house a museum, art gallery,
and municipal offices. Visit the most easterly point in
North America, Cape Spear National Historic Site, Check
into your hotel for a two-night stay. (B)
Day 13 – September 5, 2014 - St. John’s
Touring
This morning, enjoy an intriguing tour of this old seaport.
See the Victorian architecture of the downtown area, the
busy modern waterfront, the Cathedral of St. John the
Baptist, Confederation Building, and the panoramic view
from Signal Hill. The remainder of the day is free to
explore on your own before rejoining the group for a special
farewell dinner. (B & D)
Day 14 – September 6, 2014 - Depart St.
John’s
